Job Summary
Assess, plan, and provide outcome-oriented nursing care for patients in the Med Surg Pratt 3 unit, coordinating assessment, planning, and care delivery per departmental policies. Administer medications, reconcile prescriptions, and document narcotic administration and waste counts. Develop and update individualized plans of care, initiate admission assessments within eight hours, and communicate prioritized problem lists via whiteboard updates. Ensure patient safety by verifying two identifiers before invasive procedures, adhering to CDC hand hygiene guidelines, and responding to hospital codes. Document care outcomes, reassess comfort levels, and facilitate discharge transfers by noon. Represent patient and family needs, raise ethical concerns, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams while maintaining compliance with privacy standards and mandatory education requirements.
Required Qualifications
- RN - Registered Nurse
- Previous Acute Care RN experience
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Commits to working a minimum of 32 hours, with at least 16 hours (in 2 shifts) worked during a night and/or weekend per 4 week schedule
- Also works 1 major summer or winter holiday
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
- Emergency Response Training Certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
- Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) Certification
- Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration (FCIA)
- Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN)
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate
- OB- Emergency Response Training (ERT)
