Job Summary
Assess psychiatric and substance abuse patients presenting to the ED, managing agitated or combative individuals while collaborating with on-call staff. Demonstrate competency in psychotropic medications, review clinical information for treatment issues, and complete all required documentation and legal papers. Effectively communicate with ED staff to promote timely patient movement, return urgent calls within 15 minutes, and respond to liaison requests with assessment and follow-up. Accept transfers according to established guidelines and complete insurance precertifications within time frames. Maintain collaborative relationships with referral sources and address concurrent physiologic conditions alongside mental health issues.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current NYS RN license
- BLS certification

- BSN
- Experience in a patient care setting
- Experience in an Emergency Room setting
- Experience in a Psychiatric setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to relate effectively to patients, families and staff
