Job Summary
Deliver specialized pediatric cardiac care on the CVIMU Night shift by collaborating with physicians and the healthcare team to provide safe, evidence-based nursing care for pediatric patients with congenital and acquired heart conditions.Responsibilities include conducting nursing assessments, administering treatments, educating patients and families, coordinating discharge/transfer planning, maintaining accurate records, and supporting program improvements in a Magnet-designated pediatric trauma center setting. Requires Texas nursing licensure, BLS, 1+ year of acute/IMU experience, and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing; Bachelors of Nursing preferred
- Licenses/Certifications: Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS); Additional certifications may be required based on discipline and/or nursing unit requirements
- Experience/Knowledge/Skills: +1 years of acute or IMU experience; Pediatric and/or cardiac experience highly preferred
- Responsibilities: Delivers safe and appropriate care to patients according to nursing skills inventory and patient population needs
- Collaboration: Coordinates with interdisciplinary team to plan delivery of nursing care and administer clinical decisions
- Documentation: Maintains patient records and participates in discharge/transfer planning
- Quality/Compliance: Adheres to regulatory and nursing standards; supports ongoing program evaluation and process improvement
- Mentorship: May serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff
- Patient-Candor/Service: Provides compassionate, personalized experiences and ensures patient/family education and engagement
