Job Summary
Monitor and assess the physical status of patients through personal observation, interaction, and interpretation of diagnostic measures such as lab tests, radiology exams, and EKGs. Provide skilled nursing care by planning continuity of treatment, managing pre- and post-operative assessments, airway management, and medication risks including anesthesia and herbal therapies. Act as a patient advocate to coordinate care, communicate individualized goals and psychosocial needs to the care team, and maintain accurate medical record documentation. Implement nursing care plans, resolve issues before they escalate, and adhere to infection control, environmental safety, and emergency procedures while following center policies. Maintain confidentiality of PHI and utilize resources to contain costs without compromising care delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an Accredited Registered Nurse Program
- BLS Required
- Current unrestricted State Registered Nurse License
- Detail oriented
- Well organized
- Knowledge of Privacy Practices & Patient Bill of Rights
- Appropriate patient assessment and evaluation including pertinent medical and surgical history
- Able to identify educational, psychosocial, and cultural needs
- Knowledge of required pre-operative testing requirements and identification of surgical risks
- Demonstrates understanding and interpretation of diagnostic measures such as lab tests, radiology exams, and EKG interpretation
- Able to complete accurate and timely medical record documentation
- Aware of and able to successfully carry out infection control, and environmental safety practices
- Communicates a positive and caring attitude toward patients, peers, staff, and all other persons to whom there is contact
- Understands and follows centers policies and procedures
- Maintains confidentiality of all PHI
- Knowledgeable regarding all patient care equipment, including use of and cleaning of
- Knowledgeable regarding supply location
- Knowledgeable regarding emergency procedures
- Identifies goals for each individual patient and communicates these goals to others involved in the patients care
- Able to perform any reasonable work request that falls within the qualifications but not specifically described
- Extensive mobility, walking, and standing
