Job Summary
Provide professional nursing care in Medical Surgical and Emergency departments, administering medications per physician orders and performing therapeutic measures. Conduct head-to-toe assessments on obstetric, pediatric, geriatric, and general patients, developing and revising nursing plans of care based on patient response. Deliver patient education on illness management and disease prevention while documenting symptoms, reactions, and progress accurately. Respond quickly to on-call situations within 30 minutes and share on-call duties as scheduled. Maintain interdisciplinary communication with physicians, mid-level providers, and staff to address changing clinical conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Current state Registered Nurse Licensure
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification
- TNCC certification
- STABLE certification
- BLS certification
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Basic computer knowledge
- Ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment
- Ability to respond to on-call situations
- Willingness to take low census
- Knowledge of medications and medication administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition
- Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy
- Ability to perform treatments and provide services to level of licensure
- Ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations
- Displays honesty and good work ethics
- Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care
- Ability to handle emergency or crisis situations
- Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs

- Must wear identification while on duty
- Must use computerized punch time system correctly
- Must ensure confidentiality of patient's records
- Must follow all Departmental policies and procedures
- Must follow regulatory outlines provided by the Colorado State Board of Nursing and the Nurse Practice Act, law, standards/or rules
- Must adhere to dress code; appearance is neat and clean
- Must be dressed in scrubs on daily basis
- Must complete annual educational requirements as required
- Must report to work on time and as scheduled
- Must complete work within designated time
- Must share in on-call schedule/duties and respond as soon as possible and always within 30 minutes
- Must actively participate in the Department's Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities
