Job Summary
Assess, plan, and deliver nursing care to patients by contacting practitioners for orders, administering prescribed medications, and providing emergency first aid. Check and record vital signs, perform diagnostic tests, and triage intake screenings for necessity and priority. Collect data for statistical reporting, document care information accurately, and report treatment reactions or patient condition changes. Provide patient education on facility policies and discharge planning while maintaining aseptic techniques and infection control precautions. Collaborate on medical services, recommend procedural improvements, and notify supervisors of incidents. Participate in in-service education, train new hires, and may cover shifts at multiple correctional facilities or act as a backup to the Site Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Active nursing license in the state in which services are to be provided, in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hands-on training
- Excellent documentation skills
- Knowledge of the RN scope of practice
- May be directed to cover shifts at multiple correctional facilities
- May be asked to act as a back-up to the H.S.A/Site Manager
- May be asked to train new hires and coworkers
