Job Summary
Provide nursing care to patients in a correctional facility setting, including timely assessment and planning of care, administering medications and treatments, triage and intake screenings, monitoring vital signs and diagnostic data, documenting care and outcomes, coordinating multiple medical services, maintaining infection control and HIPAA practices, and delivering patient education on facility policies and discharge planning. Maintain pharmacology knowledge, therapeutic diets, and social/behavioral science understanding as applied to a correctional setting; participate in in-service education and contribute to CQI data; may cover shifts at multiple facilities and act as back-up to site management as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Active nursing license in the state in which services are to be provided
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Excellent documentation skills
- Knowledge of the RN scope of practice
