Registered Nurse (PACU)

Job Summary
Conduct post-anaesthetic care in a PACU environment with a minimum of two years' post-graduate experience. Manage discharge coordination, patient and whānau education, and seamless communication with Stage 1 recovery, surgeons, and anaesthetists. Offer clinical flexibility to support Stage 1 recovery when required and contribute to quality improvement by developing and reviewing procedure-specific discharge information sheets. Maintain evidence-based practice and collaborate effectively under pressure. This permanent, full-time role (1.0 FTE) operates on a rostered basis with flexible late-start options to support peak afternoon recovery periods at Ormiston Hospital, a modern private surgical facility.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse
- current NZ Nursing Council Practicing Certificate
- valid working rights for New Zealand
- Minimum of 2 years' post-graduate experience in a Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) environment
- Strong capabilities in discharge coordination, patient and whānau education, and seamless communication with Stage 1 recovery, surgeons, and anaesthetists
- The clinical flexibility to step in and support Stage 1 recovery when required
- Proven clinical competence
