Job Summary
Registered Nurse (PACU) in Marrero, LA providing immediate post-anesthesia care in a hospital setting. Responsibilities include assessing post-surgical patients on arrival, managing emergence from anesthesia (general, regional blocks, MAC), administering pain control and antiemetics, monitoring for complications (respiratory depression, hemodynamic instability, bleeding, anaphylaxis), managing incision sites, drains and catheters, communicating with anesthesia and surgical teams, determining discharge readiness using Aldrete score and RASS, and documenting all assessments and interventions in the EMR. Requires active LA RN license, BLS (ACLS/PALS strongly required or to be obtained), and 1 year of relevant experience; education options include an Associate's or Bachelor's RN degree. Schedule is per-diem with a 7:30 AM–5:00 PM CDT shift, compensation at $44.06/hour.
Required Qualifications
- Active Louisiana RN license
- BLS Certification (ACLS and PALS strongly required or to be obtained)
- Completion of accredited RN program (Associate's or Bachelor's)
- 1 year of relevant nursing experience
- Post-anesthesia care experience or PACU competency preferred
- Airway management and hemodynamic monitoring proficiency
- Pain management including PCA pumps and epidurals
- Ability to monitor and manage post-op recovery, including ABCs, vitals, drains, catheters, and wound care
- Strong communication with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and OR staff
- EMR documentation accuracy and timeliness
- Aldrete score/RASS for discharge readiness
