Job Summary
Assess, recognize, and address patients' psychological and physical needs on the 8th-floor Med/Surg unit, which serves diverse medical, surgical, and orthopedic patients including those with sepsis, diabetes, and cardiac conditions. Foster quality of care by developing individualized treatment plans, complying with evaluation and documentation guidelines, and overseeing LPN/CNA care while participating in clinical team conferences. Communicate compassionately with patients, families, and providers to coordinate evidence-based interventions and therapeutic support. Full-time variable shifts with differentials for evenings, nights, and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire
- ACLS/NRP/PALS certification as appropriate for unit or service
- Ability to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Ability to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Ability to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Ability to bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
- Ability to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
- Ability to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
- BSN degree within four (4) years from the Registered Nurse's date of hire (unless exempt)
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years of proven continuous Registered Nurse experience in an acute care setting (alternative to BSN requirement)
