Job Summary
Assess, recognize, and address patients' psychological and physical needs while fostering quality care for individuals with multiple diagnoses including sepsis, diabetes, and cardiac conditions. Assist in developing individualized treatment plans and oversee care delivered by LPNs and CNAs on the 8th-floor Med/Surg unit. Participate in clinical team conferences, comply with hospital policies, and coordinate care with other health team members using evidence-based practice. Communicate compassionately and effectively with patients, families, and providers while managing frequent interactions during emergency situations.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire
- ACLS/NRP/PALS certification as appropriate for unit or service
- Ability to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Ability to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Ability to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Ability to bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment including heavy items
- Ability to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
- Ability to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
- BSN degree within four years from date of hire (unless exempt)
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years of proven continuous Registered Nurse experience in an acute care setting (alternative to BSN requirement)
