Job Summary
Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care in the Operating Room Neuro Team, coordinating care with preop staff, anesthesia providers, surgeons, and recovery staff. Maintain professional accountability for assigned patients while ensuring patient rights and confidentiality. Train on surgical equipment, proper positioning, and patient prep, with opportunities to cross-train or advance to scrub or First Assist roles. Perform duties consistent with Mercy Service Standards, including lifting 50 pounds and prolonged standing. This PRN position offers 8-hour days Monday through Friday at Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO, with access to Periop 101 and AORN training for new nurses.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN)
- Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
- Other unit specific certifications including ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as required
- Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift
- Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
Desired Qualifications
- At least 1 year of RN OR experience preferred
