Job Summary
Registered Nurse (OR General) in New Orleans, LA, providing circulating nurse coverage in the operating room for general surgical procedures. Responsibilities include pre-operative assessments, patient positioning and draping, maintaining sterile technique, preparing instruments and implants, performing surgical counts, assisting anesthesia and surgeons, labeling medications and local anesthetics, ensuring safe patient transport, and documenting intraoperative nursing care in the EMR. Requires an active Louisiana RN license, BLS, completion of an RN program (ADN or BSN), and at least 1 year of relevant perioperative experience. Per-diem role with flexible shifts; schedule includes daytime hours and two listed time zones (CDT/CST). Competency in sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, medication preparation, and strong teamwork and communication skills essential.
Required Qualifications
- Active Louisiana RN license
- BLS Certification
- Completion of an accredited RN program (ADN or BSN)
- 1+ year perioperative/OR nursing experience
- Experience with sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, EMR documentation, and perioperative patient care
