Job Summary
Conduct patient-centered care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation while administering medications and monitoring vital signs. Coordinate high-quality care in accordance with protocols, assist physicians during procedures, and respond to medical emergencies including CPR and code team activities. Provide patient and family education on medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care, ensuring understanding and adherence to instructions. Maintain a clean, safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and National Patient Safety Goals. Participate in audits, chart reviews, and performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes. Work Monday through Friday from 5:30am to 4:30pm with no weekends, holidays, or call. This Registered Nurse role at the Surgical Institute of Alabama supports diverse clinical units including OR, Cardiac, Oncology, and NICU services.
Required Qualifications
- 0-2 years of experience in a clinical nursing role or student clinical rotations in an acute care setting
- Strong knowledge of the nursing process and clinical nursing practices
- Ability to perform thorough patient assessments and communicate findings effectively
- Proficient in administering medications and monitoring for side effects
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documenting patient care
- Knowledge of safety standards, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure
- BCLS - Basic Life Support

- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation
