Job Summary
Provide nursing care to patients during the intraoperative phase, acting as the patient's advocate by assisting surgeons, surgical technologists, and anesthesia providers. Complete nursing assessments, develop care plans, and accurately interpret patient data while confirming operative sites and identifying significant changes in condition. Prepare operating rooms, assemble equipment, and administer medications based on age-specific standards, ensuring staff use proper techniques and procedures. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to educate patients and families, participate in quality management activities, and respond to emergency situations with competence. May float to other hospital areas when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from accredited school of nursing
- Current state license as a registered nurse
- Current CPR certification
- ACLS, and/or PALS per policy
- Must be able to multitask
- High level written and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to fifty (50) pounds
- Stooping, kneeling and/or crouching
- Standing and walking (5) or more hours per day
- Reaching, grasping, and handling and/or feeling five (5) or more hours per day
- Visual acuity to correctly distinguish skin tone variations, evidence of IV infiltration, infection and to read telemetry, blood pressure gauges, etc.
- Audio acuity to correctly distinguish various body sounds, i.e. respirators, heart sounds, bowel sounds and to discern sounds made by various types of machinery or equipment which would indicate dangerous or improper operation
- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Hepatitis B or three doses Hep B vaccine at appropriate intervals
- Documentation of current seasonal flu vaccine (mandatory from November 1st through March 31st each year)
- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella or 2 doses of MMR Vaccination
- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Varicella or 2 doses of Varicella Vaccine
- Documented proof of immunization for Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap)
- Documentation of a two-step TB skin test within the past year OR lab verification of a negative TB Gold or T-Spot tuberculin test within the past 6 months
- Evidence of immunity required prior to 1st day of scheduled work

Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred
- Previous experience as an RN in related care area preferred
