Job Summary
Deliver safe, independent nursing care to patients in the operating room while functioning regularly as charge nurse. Perform comprehensive assessments, interventions, and evaluations while managing sterile technique, surgical counts, and patient positioning. Communicate accurately with the multidisciplinary team, complete clinical documentation, and advocate for patient needs within ethical and legal frameworks. Prioritize multitask workloads, delegate care appropriately, and maintain a clean, orderly environment adhering to AORN standards. Requires current VT RN licensure, BLS, and ACLS certifications, with bi-weekly 40-hour schedule from 6:30a-5p including evening and weekend call rotation.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Enrolled in an accredited Direct Entry to Master of Science in Nursing Program
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Vermont (VT RN license or Compact State RN)
- Successful completion of Surgical Services orientation
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification within 6 months of hire
- PALS certification
- CNOR certification
- Ability to lift, position, and/or transfer patients
- Ability to push, move, and lift heavy equipment/supplies
- Ability to reach, stoop, bend, kneel, and crouch
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
- Manual dexterity in using office equipment
- Ability to work in crisis or stressful situations
- Ability to work with exposure to infectious diseases/blood borne pathogens
- Ability to work with possible stress from emergency situations and multiple interruptions
- Ability to work with subject to irregular hours and unpredictable work situations
- Ability to wear masks and/or PAPR
- Ability to wear gown, sterile and non-sterile gloves, face shield, goggles
- Ability to incorporate appropriate assessment and intervention skills in all interactions and delivery of nursing care
- Ability to communicate with patients, team members, and management in an accurate and timely manner
- Ability to complete timely, accurate clinical documentation/order entry
