Registered Nurse Operating Room

Registered Nurse in the Operating Room provides nursing care in a single operating room in accordance with Standards of Practice and center protocols. Responsibilities include assessing patient and family needs, organizing time, equipment, supplies and personnel for efficient case management, ensuring asepsis, preparing the OR, implementing and documenting the care plan, promoting team communication, supporting anesthesia during administration, and maintaining current knowledge, certification, and licensure. The role emphasizes safe patient positioning, correct prep and draping, time-out checks, sponges/sharp/documentation control, and adherence to safety policies; may involve leadership of the surgical team and participation in required safety trainings.
