Job Summary
Collaborate with the perioperative team to deliver operative care, ensuring proper techniques, aseptic standards, and accurate documentation of nursing interventions. Assist with surgical procedures by positioning patients, preparing operative sites, managing supplies and equipment, and supporting anesthesia providers during intubation and extubation. Monitor for patient risks, facilitate efficient surgical flow, and handle specimens according to policy while maintaining a neat environment. Immediately report unusual occurrences to management and participate in mandatory staff meetings and new employee orientation. This full-time role at The Surgery Center at Denver Eye Surgeons in Lakewood, CO, offers a starting salary of $40-$44 per hour. Candidates must hold a current Colorado RN license, BLS certification, and two years of OR experience, with ACLS and PALS certification completed within three months.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school
- Current Colorado RN nursing license in good standing
- BLS certification
- 2 years OR experience
- Prefer OR experience in ophthalmology and outpatient surgery
- Ability to communicate effectively and able to work compatibly with all physicians and staff of the Surgery Center
- Ability to possess strong organizational skills, be efficient, and understand the importance of efficiency and cost effectiveness in an ambulatory surgery setting
- Knowledge and clinical skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities
- Actively pursues continuing education
- Ability to make quick assessments of patients and able to handle emergency situations effectively and quickly
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility in week to work various days and shifts
- Demonstrates Age Specific Competencies for Adult and Pediatric Patients
- Knowledge of specialized equipment used in operating room
- Knowledge of proper use of BI's, chemical indicators, preparation of wrapped loads and proper use of autoclaves
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and professional behavior at all times in the workplace
- Demonstrates understanding of the importance of efficiency and cost effectiveness in an ambulatory surgery center
- Knowledge of anesthetic agents and complications
- Knowledge and skills required to provide optimal patient care
- Knowledge and skills to properly prepare and sterilize instruments according to policies and procedures
- Demonstrates willingness and aptitude for learning new technologies, skills, and ideas in a changing environment
- Demonstrates knowledge and compliance of all Surgery Center and Panorama Eye Policies
- Must complete: ACLS and PALS certification within three months of hire
- Must have flexibility in the job duties and work schedule
- Participates in all mandatory staff meetings
