Registered Nurse - Operating Room Casual

Job Summary
Scrub and circulate in the operating room while collaborating with the healthcare team to protect patients and employees through strict adherence to infection control, medication administration, and controlled substances regulations. Document patient care accurately in medical records, maintain confidentiality, and support new staff orientation. Perform related duties as assigned, including lifting and transferring patients over 25 pounds, while wearing lead apron protection for extended periods. Effectively operate in a rapid-moving, complex, and potentially stressful environment involving emergency situations and exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases. Maintain professional knowledge through educational workshops and participate in required programs.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program combined with 2 – 3 years of recent experience in an acute care operating room
- Active/eligible for registration and practice permit with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals
- Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) perioperative nursing certification/Completion of a post-secondary educational institution perioperative nursing program/Equivalent in education and experience
- Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapid moving, complex environment
- Ability to collaborate within the expectations of a highly complex integrated team
- Ability to wear lead apron protection for an extended period of time
- The ability to cope and effectively perform in stressful and/or emergent situations
- Must be able to lift/push/pull more than 25 pounds
- Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the British Columbia Human Rights Code
