Job Summary

Collaborate with the healthcare team to protect patients by adhering to infection control policies, medication administration, and controlled substances regulations. Document patient care appropriately in medical records while maintaining confidentiality and professional technical knowledge through educational workshops. Assist with orientation for new staff and perform related duties as assigned by leadership, including setting up and caring for minor and major surgical procedures. This role requires a Registered Nurse with current certification from the College of Nurses of Manitoba, operating room certification, and BCLS. Candidates must have 2-4 years of experience in acute care or ambulatory environments, demonstrating the ability to work independently within surgical services to maintain patient flow. Day shifts are offered with a wage of $55.08/hr, flexible scheduling, and on-site parking available at Maples Surgical Centre, a division of Clearpoint Health Network.

Required Qualifications

  • RN with current Certificate of Registration issued by the College of Nurses of Manitoba
  • Operating Room certification from an accredited program - Certificate required
  • Current BCLS certification is required
  • 2-4 years' recent experience in an acute care setting in the operating room/ambulatory care environment that includes but not limited to assisting, scrubbing/circulating in the operating room, and ambulatory services
  • Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) perioperative nursing certification preferred
  • Completion of a recognized operating room course or a combination of education and experience
  • Ability to work independently within the surgical/ambulatory services environment to maintain patient flow
  • Demonstrated knowledge of surgical/ambulatory procedures (including set up) and the continuum of care for the surgical patient that includes the pre-intra-post operative patient experience
  • Must be capable to set up and care for minor and major surgical procedures and anticipate the needs of patients and physicians
  • Proven motivation to pursue educational goals
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a highly skilled interdisciplinary team
  • Implement plan of care including independent and interdependent nursing functions
  • Assessing and understanding the unique needs of the surgical patients
  • Strong proficiency and willingness to work at the full scope of practice (as outlined by CRNM)
