Registered Nurse OP Infusion-FT Days

Job Summary
Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastics agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies in an outpatient infusion center or alternate settings. Perform the nursing process using evidence-based practice to provide safe, individualized patient care while addressing biological, emotional, and educational needs. Coordinate interdisciplinary communication, complete timely documentation, and serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff and medical leadership. Participate in staff meetings, in-services, special projects, and performance improvement initiatives. Maintain annual chemotherapy competence and complete mandatory education requirements. Serve as a preceptor for newly hired RN colleagues. Local travel is required, with float staff ability to rotate between Cobb Hospital HODs within 35 miles.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Knowledge of hazardous drug therapies for treating malignant and nonmalignant conditions
- Competency in administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastics agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies
- Understanding and awareness of age-appropriate and culturally aware needs
- Ability to address patient/family biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and education needs
- Knowledge of the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act
- Knowledge of the American Nurses Association Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards
- Ability to uphold the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals
- Ability to attend and participate in staff meetings, in-services, special projects and continued education
- Ability to serve as a preceptor for newly hired RN colleagues
- Ability to float between Cobb Hospital HOD's based on need
- Chemotherapy competence
- Ability to complete initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, required mandatory education, and population-specific education
- Ability to serve as a preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses, staff, or students
- Commitment to providing the highest quality care by engaging in continuing education
- Ability to earn or maintain a specialty oncology certification
- Ability to obtain 12 continuing education credits annually
- Ability to promote evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement in nursing
- Ability to participate in activities such as value analysis as part of the decision making process in evaluating patient care products
- Ability to uphold all health care system/organizational policies and procedures and clinical competencies put forth by this job description and professional association (i.e. Oncology Nursing Society)
- Ability to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements and standards including TJC Patient Safety Goals and WellStar Health Systems safety absolutes
- Ability to participate in data collection
- Ability to pose relevant clinical questions to advanced evidence based practice
- Ability to consult appropriate experts and use appropriate resources and evidence to address practice questions
- Ability to proactively plan for the care of patients across the care continuum
- Ability to participate in the development of protocols and procedures
- Ability to support efficient and effective use of human and material resources
- Ability to coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care
- Ability to practice diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods
