Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive nursing care for the patient population by interviewing for history, assessing health knowledge, obtaining vital signs, and administering respiratory treatments, irrigations, and procedures like catheterization. Provide pre- and postoperative instruction, give home care guidance, and document all findings in the medical record while serving as a patient advocate. Coordinate care by interacting with Clinic departments, hospitals, and agencies; assist physicians with examinations and equipment preparation. Screen patient problems for referrals, perform pre-certifications for insurance, and orient new personnel. Serve on the STAT Code Team and provide education to staff. Maintain knowledge through education programs and adhere to all clinic policies, OSHA standards, and the Illinois Nurse Practice Act.
Required Qualifications
- Educated as a registered nurse by attaining an ADN, diploma or BSN
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
- ONS Fundamentals Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Certificate
- Oncology Nursing Certification through the Oncology Nursing Society
- 12 hours of Oncology specific continuing education annually
- CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines
