Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Oncology and Palliative Care Unit delivers patient-centered nursing care, including chemotherapy administration, within Osler’s oncology care team. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care; infection control; patient and family education with discharge planning; recognizing and responding to changes in patient status; collaborating with an inter-professional team; and maintaining professional development and leadership in a high-acuity cancer-care setting. Requirements include recent oncology experience, Ontario nursing registration in good standing, Oncology Nursing Canada certification or progression toward certification, chemotherapy course prerequisites, BCLS, and a willingness to travel between Osler sites. Hours currently include days, weekends, and statutory holidays as operationally required.
Required Qualifications
- Recent oncology nursing experience within the last five years
- Certified in Oncology Nursing Canada required or successful completion within two years of hire
- Provincial standardized chemotherapy and biotherapy courses required
- Experience in chemotherapy administration required
- Foundations in Oncology Nursing Practice course required or successful completion within one year of hire
- Foundations of Oncology for Emergency Nurses course required or successful completion within one year of hire
- Current registration, and in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- BCLS required
