Job Summary

Required Qualifications

• •current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California
• •current BLS certification
• •ACLS certification
• •NRP, EFM
• •basic computer skills
• •ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• •ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required
• •ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required
• •ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
• •ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
• •current knowledge of health care trends that affect the clinical practice of Nursing on the unit
• •adherence to all nine (9) ANA Code of Ethics for the Nursing profession
• •knowledge of maternal and fetal complications
• •competency in caring for patients experiencing fetal demise, stillbirth, or neonatal death with compassion and professionalism
• •ability to accurately interpret and document fetal monitoring strips and identify abnormal findings
• •knowledge of, safely administer, and calculate medications in the Maternal Child Health Department, including pediatric and neonatal dosages
• •knowledge and application of sterile technique and equipment in the Delivery Room and Operating Room
• •ability to obtain, perform, and document Newborn Metabolic Screening/Critical Congenital Heart Disease (CCHD) specimens per protocol
• •understanding of the use, actions and interactions of drugs used in combination for patients with multi-system problems
• •proper Infection Prevention skills to include Standardized Protocols or procedures related to central lines and indwelling Foley catheters and Bakari Balloon
• •demonstrates standards of documentation as evidenced by individual chart review and no letters of education in file
• •demonstrates knowledge and application of sterile technique and equipment in the Delivery Room and Operating Room including but not limited to: Oxygen delivery systems, Pulse oximeter, Radiant warmer, Neonatal monitors, Suction equipment, Catheters, Neonatal emergency equipment, Bilirubin lights, bilirubin meter, and bilirubin blankets
• •Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call
• •Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours
• •As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act
• •Needs to recognize that they have an affirmative duty and responsibility for reporting perceived misconduct, including actual or potential violations of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, or this organization's standards/code of conduct
• •The employee shall work well under pressure, meet multiple and sometimes competing deadlines
• •the incumbent shall at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors
• •Must have and maintain current BLS Card, required
• •Must have and maintain ACLS certification or obtain within six (6) months of assignment to department
• •Must have and maintain NRP, EFM or obtain within 6 months of assignment to department
• •Six (6) month time frame is at the discretion of the Department Director
