Job Summary
Registered Nurse - Nursing Home Surveyor/Complaint Investigator in New Rochelle, NY. Conduct surveys and complaint investigations at nursing homes to assess compliance with Federal and State regulations, produce Statements of Deficiencies, and participate in state monitoring and administrative hearings. Requires NYS RN license, 2+ years in utilization review/claims medical review/fraud surveillance or 3 years clinical/administrative experience, or ADN/BSN with 2 years’ experience; SMQT preferred with ability to obtain within 12 months; valid driver’s license and willingness to travel; 1+ year of survey experience; weekend/holiday/evening availability; travel role with premium holiday/overtime pay; benefits include health insurance, mileage reimbursement, sick leave, and a temporary-to-permanent track.
Required Qualifications
- Must have an NYS Registered Nurse license
- Must have a minimum of 2 years experience performing utilization review, claims adjudication, medical review, fraud investigation, surveillance, or monitoring activities; OR 3 years of clinical or administrative experience; OR A Bachelor’s degree in nursing and 2 years of clinical or administrative experience
- SMQT Certification is preferred but should be able to obtain within 12 months of employment
- Must have a valid driver's license & the ability to travel to on-site facilities to review assignments
- Must have at least one (1) year of survey experience
- Employees must be available to work weekends, holidays, and evening shifts, as needed
- This is a travel position
- Candidates will receive a premium pay rate for working on holidays and overtime
- Responsibilities include participating in surveys or complaint investigations to include allegations of abuse and neglect, and perform surveillance activities/tasks at nursing homes to determine compliance with Federal and State regulations
- Produce written documentation and draft a Statement of Deficiencies (SOD) within the required time frame, using Principles of Documentation
- Assess compliance with the Plan of Correction within the required time frame
- Complete data entry in Federal and State reporting databases as required
- Participate in State monitoring during Immediate Jeopardy situations
- Attend meetings as required
- Testify in administrative hearings as needed
- Adhere to DOH work schedules
- Adhere to DOH and company policies, and procedures
- Travel to onsite locations according to work schedule
