Job Summary

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans for inmates in a correctional setting, conducting initial screenings and managing chronic, acute, and mental health conditions. Administer medications and treatments per physician orders while responding to medical emergencies, trauma, and crises. Document all assessments and progress in the electronic medical record, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local regulations. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians and correctional officers, to resolve care issues and provide health education to patients. Supervise LPNs and nursing assistants, maintain medical equipment, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Required Qualifications

  • A current, valid state(s) licensure, certificate and/or credentials documenting ability to practice in applicable role (i.e. CMA, LPN, RN, LMHP, etc.)
  • A High School diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a correctional healthcare or similar environment
  • Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved)
  • Work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the facility's healthcare needs

Desired Qualifications

  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Nursing, or a related field
  • Experience in roles that involve direct patient care or administrative support in a regulated environment
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to the correctional setting
