Job Summary
Assess, coordinate, and deliver nursing care for acute patients in the NICU, including direct patient care, family education, and transitions of care. Develop and implement individualized plans of care that incorporate psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors. Foster collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers through timely communication while adhering to hospital policies, industry standards, and applicable laws. Prioritize assignments, manage time-sensitive activities, and use critical thinking to solve routine or complex problems in an ever-changing environment. Work independently while engaging team members and diverse audiences in stressful situations, ensuring patient privacy and safety. Rotating weekend schedule with nights shift; full-time 36-hour week.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- RN license evidences completion of a RN program
- RN-Registered Nurse for the state where care is provided
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
- NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation Provider
- 2 years of recent relevant experience
- Demonstrated general knowledge and competence with regard to nursing theories, concepts and practices
- Medical terminology
- Anatomy
- Physiology
- Working knowledge of the healthcare industry
- Safety precaution policies
- Best practices regarding patient care
- Privacy
- Changes in local/state/federal regulations
- Written and verbal communications skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize patient care, assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and practices
- Basic knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Outlook)
- Ability to communicate and engage team members, patients and families in a variety of stressful situations
- Use existing procedures and critical thinking to identify and solve routine or complex problems
- Ability to ensure the privacy of each patient's protected health information (PHI)
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers
- Ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods
- Ability to manage, store, prepare, receive, unpack, transport, dispose of, or administer drugs identified as hazardous or potentially hazardous by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and in accordance with the USP 800 guidelines
- Must be available for Rotating Weekends
