Job Summary
NICU RN duties include performing infant assessments, developing and implementing care plans (including discharge planning), and evaluating patient responses as part of an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include attending deliveries, neonatal stabilization and admission assessments, administering medications and treatments, assisting with transport and stabilization of infants, providing family education and homecare resources, supporting high-risk deliveries, and delegating tasks to non-licensed staff per standards of practice. Requires collaborating with Nurse Practitioners and Neonatologists, and ensuring adherence to hospital policy and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Current State of Texas RN license or Compact RN license (TX license must be obtained within 90 days of hire)
- BLS required as per policy
- NRP certification required as per policy
- RN, NICU certification (RNC-NIC) – preferred
- ST.A.B.L.E. Neonatal Education Program Certification – preferred
Desired Qualifications
- BSN preferred
- RNC-NIC preferred
- S.T.A.B.L.E. Neonatal Education Program Certification – preferred
- NRP certification – required by policy
- BLS certification – required by policy
