Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Level III NICU provides safe, effective, and patient-centered neonatal care in a 24/7 multidisciplinary unit adjacent to the Mother/Baby Unit. The RN utilizes the nursing process, evaluates care provided by direct caregivers, and coordinates patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams while maintaining patient rights and confidentiality. Certification requirements include NRP and STABLE (to be completed if not already held) with national specialty certification (RNC-NIC) strongly encouraged. The role supports Mercy’s mission and service standards, participates in family-centered care, and may float to other Women’s and Children’s units as part of ongoing career development. The unit emphasizes advanced neonatal therapies and a 3-1 patient-care ratio, with benefits such as tuition support and retirement plans. Required Qualifications
- RN license in hiring state and/or compact licensure
- NRP certification (and STABLE) required or to be completed within 30 days of hire
- ACLS, PALS, ENPC, TNCC, CPHON, OCN, or other unit-specific certifications as required
- BLS (and other pediatric/neonatal certifications as listed)
- Ability to meet physical requirements (push/pull/lift 50 lbs, standing/walking)
- Graduated from a school of nursing (associate's degree, diploma, or BSN)
