Job Summary

Conduct patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. Assess learning needs, implement teaching strategies for diverse patient and family groups, and communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources effectively. Lead and partner on the interdisciplinary team while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards. Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, including respecting privacy and adjusting communication styles for procedures. Work in a patient care area with exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous medications.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present information clearly and professionally
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to be self-directed
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgement
  • Ability to lift 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally
  • Ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently
  • Ability to lift 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly
  • Ability to walk or stand to a significant degree
  • Ability to push and/or pull arm or leg controls
  • Ability to work at a production rate pace
  • Ability to work in an area where patients enter
  • Ability to work directly with patients
  • Ability to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
  • Ability to work with hazardous medications
  • Ability to work with hazardous waste
  • Ability to receive, transport, store, prepare, dispense, administer, clean, and/or dispose of contaminated waste
  • Ability to comply with all federal, state, and local laws
  • Ability to comply with accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements
  • Ability to report any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct
  • Ability to ensure patient/employee safety
  • Ability to ensure patient privacy
  • Ability to ensure compliance with compliance-related concerns
  • Ability to reside in and work in Louisiana (excluding Colorado, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, and Washington D.C.)
