Job Summary
Conduct thorough patient assessments, administer prescribed medications, and monitor side effects for patients with neurological disorders, post-op neuro or back surgeries, and stroke survivors. Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans while responding to medical emergencies and participating in life-saving interventions. Provide patient and family education on medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care, ensuring understanding and adherence to instructions. Implement infection control protocols, operate medical equipment such as IV pumps and ventilators, and participate in audits, chart reviews, and performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes. Work nights (7p-7a) on a 24-bed Neuro Spine Med Surg unit with a full-time schedule of 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- 0-2 years of experience in a clinical nursing role or student clinical rotations in an acute care setting
- Strong knowledge of the nursing process and clinical nursing practices
- Ability to perform thorough patient assessments and communicate findings effectively
- Proficient in administering medications and monitoring for side effects
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documenting patient care
- Knowledge of safety standards, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure
- BCLS - Basic Life Support
