Job Summary
Registered Nurse (Neuro ICU) position at a Marrero, LA hospital. Per-diem, 7:30 AM–5:00 PM CDT. Responsibilities include frequent neurologic assessments (pupil checks, motor/sensory, cranial nerves, GCS), managing patients with stroke, TBI, status epilepticus, brain tumors, and post-craniotomy, invasive monitoring (ICP, EVD, arterial lines), titrating IV infusions (propofol, nicardipine, levetiracetam, mannitol, hypertonic saline, vasopressors), ventilator management, coordinating with neurosurgery/neurology/respiratory/PT teams, educating families, and maintaining rapid response readiness. Requires RN with Associate's or Bachelor's degree, active LA RN license, BLS, ACLS and NIHSS, and at least 1 year of relevant experience. EMR documentation, hospital-based environment, per-diem schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing (RN) program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree).
- Licensure: Active Louisiana state RN license and current BLS Certification. ACLS and NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification are required.
- Experience: At least one year of relevant experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in continuous hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, EVD (external ventricular drain) monitoring, ICP (intracranial pressure) monitoring, administration of titratable vasoactive and sedative drips, and rapid neurologic assessment (Glasgow Coma Scale).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional critical thinking and rapid decision-making abilities; calm under pressure; strong attention to detail; excellent communication with multidisciplinary teams and families.
