Job Summary
Registered Nurse at Tennessee Oncology provides direct patient care across the cancer treatment trajectory, from diagnosis through end-of-life, coordinating with physicians and an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include reviewing patient data prior to visits, assessing and treating symptoms related to disease and treatment, performing telephone triage, starting peripheral IVs and managing central venous access devices, administering chemotherapy and other drugs per standards, documenting medications and charges, ensuring timely specimen collection, monitoring anticoagulation, handling prescription extensions, assisting with procedures (e.g., bone marrow biopsies, skin punch biopsies), coordinating supportive care with hospital staff, delivering patient education, navigating EMR documentation, conducting inventory and supply management, and traveling to other TO clinics as needed. The role requires empathetic patient interactions, collaboration with the care team to tailor treatment plans, and supervision of LPNs, CNAs, and MAs as part of clinic operations.
Required Qualifications
- Current TN or compact state RN license
- Oncology certification strongly recommended within 2 years of hire
- Current ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy card required within 6 months of hire
- Experience in an outpatient facility preferred
- May waive with Executive Director of Nursing approval
- Ability to travel to other TO clinics as needed
- BSN preferred or equivalent experience (if mentioned)
