Job Summary
Provide excellent, clinically competent patient care on 12-hour night shifts for inpatient specialty units by completing comprehensive nursing assessments, administering medications, and verifying orders. Plan, implement, and document individualized care plans while evaluating outcomes against evidence-based interventions. Initiate discharge planning, consult with the Clinical Coordinator and Charge nurse on unit activities, and organize work based on patient and staff needs. Safely supervise LPNs and UAPs when assigned, perform charge nurse duties, and mentor students and new hires. Foster teamwork, resolve conflicts, and adhere to infection control and hospital policies.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Virginia or compact state
- Must obtain BLS within 90 days
- Demonstrate a theoretical knowledge base
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills
- Demonstrate consistent ability/competence in patient care areas
- Demonstrates the ability to respond to emergency situations
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate the vision, mission, and goals of Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, including hospital and unit specific dashboards
- Demonstrates the ability to foster a healthy, collaborative, open work environment that is conducive to teamwork and encourages communication
- Demonstrates the ability to follow administrative protocols
- Demonstrates effective problem-solving, and communication skills such as conflict resolution and negotiating skills
- Demonstrates constructive and effective relationships with staff, peers and customers
- Maintains positive employee relations and good employee morale
- Emphasizes the team approach to work
- Motivates and mentors those to strive for excellence

Desired Qualifications
- BSN
- Minimum of 1 year experience in specialty setting
