Job Summary
Registered Nurse in Mental Health serving on the Acute Crisis Evaluation & Response Team (ACERT) with primary responsibility for crisis assessment, de-escalation, risk assessments, medication administration within scope, and coordination of care with ED, psychiatry, and IPMH. Responsibilities include timely psychosocial assessments, suicide and violence risk assessment, leading Code White events, ensuring least restraints practices, handovers from police or MCRT as required, and supporting transitions to inpatient mental health. Practice aligned with CNO Standards and hospital policies; ongoing education and participation in quality assurance programs.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- BScN preferred or equivalent education/experience
- Post-diploma psychiatric/mental health nursing certification considered an asset
- Demonstrated experience with risk assessments and suicide prevention
- Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
- Valid BCLS certification
- Ability to administer naloxone in emergent situations
- Non-Violent Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training required
- ASIST training considered an asset
