Job Summary
Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care for assigned MedSurg patients while maintaining professional accountability. Coordinate patient care in conjunction with other departments and evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by direct care givers. Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information consistent with Mercy service standards. Push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis while enduring prolonged standing and walking each shift. Requires ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties. Requires current RN license and BLS certification; additional certifications like ACLS or NRP may be required based on unit. Work 32+ hours per pay period to qualify for outstanding benefits including medical, dental, vision coverage, paid time off, tuition support, and matched retirement plans.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program
- Current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure
- Meeting all state board of nursing requirements
- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire

- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization) Six Assessment &Care Modules
- C-EFM (Fetal Monitor Certification)
- Other unit specific certifications as required
