Job Summary
Conduct safe, comprehensive nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures and recovering from surgery, including pre- and post-operative assessments, pain management, wound care, and medication administration. Prioritise and coordinate care across diverse specialties such as breast, thoracic, colorectal, and gastroenterology surgery while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to assess, plan, and evaluate patient needs. Support patients through preparation, recovery, rehabilitation, and discharge planning, ensuring clear communication and accurate documentation throughout their surgical journey. Work 30 hours per week in a permanent part-time capacity within a busy acute surgical environment.
Required Qualifications
- current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
- recent clinical experience within an acute hospital or surgical environment
- well-developed clinical assessment, communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to provide safe and effective care in a busy acute surgical environment
- sound clinical judgement
- strong prioritisation and problem-solving skills
- ability to recognise and respond appropriately to changes in a patient's condition
- commitment to ongoing education, professional development and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- commitment to and supporting our Mission and Values
- required to be vaccinated from Influenza
