Job Summary

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans using the nursing process in a collaborative clinical environment. Perform accurate patient assessments, maintain timely documentation, and support smooth patient transitions through effective hand-offs. Deliver holistic, family-centered care while working with physicians, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe treatment and unit safety. Provide direct patient care alongside experienced nursing leadership, including the Director and Charge Nurse. Maintain Montana RN licensure and BLS certification, with preference for Medical-Surgical or Geriatric Nursing certification. Work 12-hour day or night shifts in Helena, Montana, supporting a mission-driven hospital focused on orthopedic and spine care excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • Relevant experience demonstrating the ability to perform successfully as a staff RN
  • Graduate of an accredited professional school of nursing
  • Current Montana RN license
  • BLS certification
  • 12-hour day shift availability
  • 12-hour night shift availability

Desired Qualifications

  • Medical-Surgical or Geriatric Nursing certification
  • Established educational and competency standards in accordance with DNV Orthopedic and Spine certification requirements
  • Complete specialty-specific education and annual competency validation
  • Participation in continuing education related to orthopedic and spine care
  • Knowledge of Musculoskeletal system anatomy and physiology
  • Knowledge of ERAS
  • Knowledge of Pain management strategies
  • Knowledge of Mobility and safety
  • Knowledge of Prevention of complications such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), infection, and pressure injuries
  • Knowledge of Glucose management
  • Knowledge of Compartment syndrome
  • Strong cognitive, clinical judgment, organizational, decision-making and emotional skills
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Positive attitude with a focus on customer satisfaction
  • Commitment to patient advocacy and achieving positive patient outcomes
  • Ability to meet organizational behavioral standards
  • Adaptability to feedback, changing schedules, equipment, and department needs
