Job Summary
Registered Nurse (MED/SURG) in Metairie, LA providing care to adult and adolescent patients with medical and post-surgical needs. Administer medications, IV fluids, and blood products; perform frequent patient assessments and vital sign monitoring; collaborate with physicians, case managers, therapists, and other healthcare team members to coordinate discharge planning; educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, and post-discharge instructions; document nursing care and patient responses in EMR; maintain a safe, clean patient environment with fall prevention and infection control. Per-diem shifts with flexible options; schedule includes 7:00 AM–7:00 PM and 7:00 PM–7:00 PM CST/CDT. Education: RN program completion (Associate’s or Bachelor’s); Licensure: active LA RN license and current BLS; Experience: at least 1 year. Skills: IV therapy, wound care, medication administration (PO/IV/IM/SQ), infusion pumps, EMR; soft skills: critical thinking, time management, communication, empathy, patient-focused care.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited RN program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree)
- Active Louisiana state RN license
- Current BLS Certification
- At least one year of relevant experience
- Proficiency in IV therapy, wound care, medication administration (PO, IV, IM, SQ), use of infusion pumps, EMR
