Job Summary

Assess patients, collect health data, and implement treatment plans while documenting progress and revising care as needed. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop family-centered plans of care, manage discharge planning, and provide patient education. Monitor patient responses to interventions, identify safety hazards, and delegate tasks according to state practice acts. Maintain medication administration standards and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Requires NY State RN license, BLS, ACLS, and TCAR certifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through completion of a two year training at an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse
  • BLS certification
  • de-escalation training
  • ACLS (ICU, Float pool, Emergency Dept)
  • TCAR Certification (SICU, PACU)
  • PALS
  • TNCC
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients and their families that demonstrate recognition of cultural diversity
  • Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written format
  • Analytical ability to assess and develop solutions to clinical situations or unit problems
  • Ability to frequently lift/carry more than 75 lbs
  • Ability to frequently push/pull more than 100 lbs
  • Ability to frequently bend, squat, kneel, climb steps/ladder and reach above shoulders

Desired Qualifications

  • 1 year critical care experience
  • BSN
  • Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia (e.g. CAPA)
  • 1 year of nursing experience in preoperative, perioperative, or post-anesthesia care
  • Experience in patient assessment, education, and care planning for pre and post-operative patients
  • Prior experience in discharge planning and coordination of perioperative patients
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems, including documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
