Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide direct patient care in a correctional setting, including assessments, medication administration, treatments, and emergency response. Responsibilities include collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans, documenting in the EMR, ensuring compliance with facility policies and infection control standards, and educating inmates on health management. The role involves leading and mentoring other nursing staff in the absence of higher-level management, supervising LPNs and nursing assistants, ensuring stocked and functional medical equipment, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. The position requires flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, with a focus on delivering high-quality, compliant nursing care within a regulated correctional environment.
Required Qualifications
- A current, valid state RN licensure
- An Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Nursing, or a related field is preferred but not required
- 1-3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a correctional healthcare or similar environment
- Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved)
- Experience in roles that involve direct patient care or administrative support in a regulated environment is preferred
