Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for the Main Renal unit using The Christ Hospital Professional Practice Model. Perform holistic physical, psychosocial, and spiritual assessments; recognize abnormal data, report changes to physicians, and utilize handoff methods to communicate patient status. Implement evidence-based nursing actions, delegate tasks, provide individualized education, and respond to emergency situations with controlled precision. Document the nursing process accurately in the electronic medical record, including plan of care updates and patient responses. Evaluate care effectiveness against established standards and adjust interventions based on patient outcomes. Participate in 75% of staff and council meetings, contribute to performance improvement projects, and mentor peers and nursing students. Maintain competency in point-of-care testing and complete all required Healthstream education on time.
Required Qualifications
- Current licensure to practice nursing in Ohio
- BSN within 5 years of the date of hire (for nurses hired after January 2010)
- BLS certification prior to patient contact
- ACLS certification within 6 months of hire in step-down and ICU areas
- Ability to accept and implement change
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse setting
- Ability to effectively communicate with peers
- Utilization of appropriate channels of communication
- Maintenance of absolute confidentiality
- Demonstration of continuing professional growth
- Competence in POC (point of care) testing for unit specific nursing practice
Desired Qualifications
- MSN or DNP (supersede the requirement for the BSN)
- Certification specific to work area of professional practice when eligible
- Membership in professional organizations
