Required Qualifications

• •BSN within 5 years of the date of hire
• •Current licensure to practice nursing in Ohio
• •BLS certification prior to patient contact
• •ACLS certification within 6 months of hire in step-down and ICU areas
• •Certification in area of clinical specialty within five years of eligibility

• •Ability to recognize and appropriately report to the physician and charge RN pertinent abnormal data and changes in the patient's condition
• •Ability to utilize appropriate handoff methods to collaborate with other healthcare team members to communicate pertinent data regarding patient's physiological and psychological data
• •Ability to assess patient, family, and environment for safety risks
• •Ability to proactively seek out and perform safety initiatives
• •Ability to prepare, coordinate, and revise multidisciplinary plan of care in collaboration with the patient and family
• •Ability to communicate the plan of care utilizing SBAR and handoff processes with all team members
• •Ability to establish priorities of care, discuss plan of care during shift report, and participate in care conferences
• •Ability to initiate discharge planning upon admission and make appropriate referrals consistent with the anticipated length of stay
• •Ability to perform and delegate nursing actions based on appropriate orders
• •Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and accountability for appropriate implementation
• •Ability to provide ongoing, individualized holistic patient and family education based on needs and plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
• •Ability to demonstrate critical thinking upon review of physician orders, making appropriate referrals, and contact other health team professionals
• •Ability to respond to emergency situations that require an immediate, controlled precision in a skillful manner
• •Ability to implement measures to prevent contamination and/or transmission of disease to include the use of appropriate protective devices and equipment
• •Ability to evaluate effectiveness of nursing care interventions and adjust or continue with plan of care based on patient and family response
• •Ability to maintain continuity of care by continuous evaluation during handoff report, rounding, and upon transfers to other specialty units and post care facilities
• •Ability to accurately and concisely document nursing process in the patient's electronic medical record
• •Ability to document information in a timely manner, according to hospital policy, to include the plan of care, accurate updates, teaching, and the patients' and family response to care
