Job Summary
Conduct holistic assessments of patients' physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational needs while recognizing and reporting abnormal data to physicians and charge RNs. Implement evidence-based nursing actions based on physician orders, provide individualized patient and family education, and respond to emergency situations with controlled precision. Evaluate the effectiveness of care interventions, adjust plans based on patient responses, and maintain continuity through handoff reports and rounding. Document all nursing processes, plans of care, and patient outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record. Demonstrate leadership by mentoring peers, participating in staff and council meetings, and contributing to performance improvement projects and research initiatives. Maintain competency through required training, including Healthstream education and annual education day attendance.
Required Qualifications
- Current licensure to practice nursing in Ohio
- BSN within 5 years of the date of hire (for nurses hired after January 2010)
- BLS certification prior to patient contact
- ACLS certification within 6 months of hire in step-down and ICU areas
- Ability to accept and implement change
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse setting
- Must be available for nights
Desired Qualifications
- MSN or DNP
- Certification specific to work area of professional practice when eligible
- Membership in professional organizations
- Participation in the professional advancement program
- Participation in chosen professional organizations and conferences
- Participation in development and maintenance of research activities
- Participation in community service activities
- More than 20 years of experience as an RN (for pre-January 2010 hires pursuing BSN on voluntary basis)
