Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for Main General Surgery units using The Christ Hospital Professional Practice Model. Perform holistic assessments covering physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs while recognizing abnormal data and reporting changes to physicians. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams via SBAR handoffs to communicate physiological and psychological data, establish care priorities during shift reports, and initiate discharge planning. Provide individualized education to patients and families, respond to emergency situations with controlled precision, and implement infection prevention measures. Accurately document the nursing process and plan of care in the electronic medical record. Demonstrate leadership by mentoring peers, participating in 75% of staff and council meetings, and contributing to performance improvement projects. Maintain current Ohio licensure, BLS certification, and complete required Healthstream education.
Required Qualifications
- BSN within 5 years of the date of hire
- Current licensure to practice nursing in Ohio
- BLS certification prior to patient contact
- ACLS certification within 6 months of hire in step-down and ICU areas
- Certification in area of clinical specialty within five years of eligibility
- 100% on-time completion and attendance for annual education day
- Ability to accept and implement change
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse setting
