Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for Main General Surgery units using The Christ Hospital Professional Practice Model. Perform holistic assessments of physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational needs while recognizing abnormal data and reporting changes to physicians. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to communicate pertinent physiological and psychological data through SBAR and handoff processes. Implement evidence-based interventions, provide individualized patient and family education, and respond to emergency situations with controlled precision. Document nursing processes accurately in the electronic medical record and maintain continuity of care during rounds and transfers. Participate in staff meetings, council activities, and unit-based performance improvement projects. Mentor peers, precept nursing students, and contribute to professional development initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- BSN within 5 years of the date of hire
- Current licensure to practice nursing in Ohio
- BLS certification prior to patient contact
- ACLS certification within 6 months of hire in step-down and ICU areas
- Certification in area of clinical specialty within five years of eligibility
- 100% on-time completion and attendance for annual education day
