Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate holistic patient care for Main General Surgery patients, including physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs. Perform and delegate nursing actions based on physician orders, respond to emergency situations with controlled precision, and provide individualized education to patients and families. Document the nursing process accurately in the electronic medical record, maintain continuity of care through handoff reports and rounding, and proactively identify safety risks. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team using SBAR communication, participate in care conferences, and lead performance improvement initiatives. Adhere to Ohio Nurse Practice Act standards and hospital policies while mentoring peers and supporting professional growth.
Required Qualifications
- BSN within 5 years of the date of hire
- Current licensure to practice nursing in Ohio
- BLS certification prior to patient contact
- ACLS certification within 6 months of hire in step-down and ICU areas
- Certification in area of clinical specialty within five years of eligibility
- 75% participation in staff meetings
- 75% participation in council meetings
- 100% on-time completion and attendance for annual education day
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse setting
- Ability to accept and implement change
Desired Qualifications
- MSN or DNP
- Membership in professional organizations
- Certification specific to work area of professional practice when eligible
