Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for Main General Surgery units using The Christ Hospital Professional Practice Model. Perform holistic assessments of physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs; recognize abnormal data, report changes to physicians, and utilize handoff methods to collaborate with the healthcare team. Establish and prioritize individualized patient problems, coordinate multidisciplinary plans of care, and initiate discharge planning. Provide evidence-based interventions, delegate nursing actions, and deliver ongoing patient and family education. Respond to emergency situations with controlled precision and implement infection prevention measures. Document the nursing process accurately in the electronic medical record and participate in 75% of staff and council meetings. Maintain competency in point-of-care testing and contribute to performance improvement projects and research initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- BSN within 5 years of the date of hire
- Current licensure to practice nursing in Ohio
- BLS certification prior to patient contact
- ACLS certification within 6 months of hire in step-down and ICU areas
- Certification in area of clinical specialty within five years of eligibility
- 100% on-time completion and attendance for annual education day
- Ability to accept and implement change
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse setting
