Job Summary
Conduct holistic assessments of patients' physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational needs, prioritizing actual and potential nursing diagnoses while reporting abnormal data to physicians and the charge RN. Implement evidence-based care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, delegate appropriate nursing actions, and provide individualized patient and family education. Evaluate care effectiveness continuously during handoffs and rounding, adjusting plans based on patient response to maintain continuity. Document all interventions, teaching, and patient outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record in a timely manner. Demonstrate leadership by mentoring peers, participating in staff and council meetings, and contributing to performance improvement projects. Maintain competency through required training, including Healthstream education and annual education day attendance, while adhering to Ohio Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies.
Required Qualifications
- Current licensure to practice nursing in Ohio
- BSN within 5 years of hire date (for nurses hired after January 2010)
- BLS certification prior to patient contact
- ACLS certification within 6 months of hire in step-down and ICU areas
- Ability to accept and implement change
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse setting
- 100% on-time completion and attendance for annual education day
Desired Qualifications
- MSN or DNP
- Certification specific to work area of professional practice when eligible
- Membership in professional organizations
- Participation in the professional advancement program
- Participation in chosen professional organizations and conferences
- Participation in development and maintenance of research activities
