Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for individuals in the Main Ambulatory Procedure Dept using The Christ Hospital Professional Practice Model. Perform holistic assessments of physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational needs while recognizing and reporting abnormal data to physicians. Implement evidence-based interventions, provide individualized education, and respond to emergency situations with controlled precision. Document the nursing process accurately in the electronic medical record and participate in multidisciplinary care conferences and unit-based activities. Maintain competency through required BLS certification and annual education, while mentoring peers and contributing to performance improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Current licensure to practice nursing in Ohio
- BSN within 5 years of the date of hire (for nurses hired after January 2010)
- BLS certification prior to patient contact
- ACLS certification within 6 months of hire in step-down and ICU areas
- Ability to accept and implement change
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse setting
- Ability to effectively communicate with peers
- Utilization of appropriate channels of communication
- Maintenance of absolute confidentiality
- Demonstration of continuing professional growth
- Competence in age and culturally specific patient care and education
- Participation in 75% of staff meetings and 75% of council meetings as appropriate
- Participation in unit based activities/initiatives for performance improvement, evidence based projects, and research as needed
- Participation in council activities and task forces to improve competencies of self, co-workers, and staff members related to patient care
- Participation in self and peer review activities to include the positive recognition of peers and staff on a regular basis
- Acting as a resource, educator and preceptor for multidisciplinary team members, staff and nursing students
- Continuous evaluation and documentation of competency
- Maintenance of competency in POC (point of care) testing for unit specific nursing practice
- Completion of all educational requirements to maintain competency related to specific population of patient and/or regulatory agencies
- 100% on-time completion and attendance for annual education day
- Timely submission of required tests and paperwork without management interventions
- Adherence to time and attendance policy
- Reporting to work on time
- Maintaining a good attendance record
- Use of badge to clock in and out
- Making requests for tie off as far in advance as possible
- Compliance with organization and department policies and required training
Desired Qualifications
- MSN or DNP (supersede the requirement for the BSN)
- Membership in professional organizations
- Certification specific to work area of professional practice when eligible
- Participation in chosen professional organizations and conferences
- Participation in development and maintenance of research activities
- Participation in community service activities
- Participation in the professional advancement program
